This is a list of a very few of the local indigenous flora, some of which we can
supply as stock from our Nursery.

Fast growing,
dense sprawling shrub with bright green oval leaves with finely toothed edges.
Longer branches occasionally extend beyond the dense thickets, forming roots
where they touch the ground. Yellow flowers in groups, Aug- Feb.
Plant in
moist locations. Tolerates water logging and periods of drought. Regenerates
from seed and spreads by branches forming roots where they touch the ground.
Useful for erosion control and soil stabilisation projects. Provides food for
birds and insects, the insects themselves providing food for other birds and
small animals.
Widespread in
moist gullies in hilly country and Waterways Scrub as understorey plants forming
dense thickets.

Pyramid-shaped tree with slender branches and very fine, pine-like, dark green
foliage. New growth has red tips
Salt
tolerant. Specimen plant, shade tree, street tree, tubs and Christmas trees.
Provides food for seed-eating birds. Uses: Wood used for boomerangs.
Prefers open
position in dry, well-drained soil; full sun. Accepts moist , well-drained soil;
semi-shade. Resents poor drainage. Very hardy: drought, frost and salt tolerant;
moderately lime tolerant.

spreading Shrub, to 3m High. Flowers, Pale yellowish green in 6-8cm spikes. Damp
situations, hillsides.
Hoary Sunray

or short lived perennial herb, usually single stemmed to 1m high. Leaved
oblanceolate to narrow lacelate 10cm long by 2 cm Wide, Dark Green minutely
Hairy Margins Entire. Flower Heads bright Yellow 5cm across with Yellow Centres,
surrounded by rows of shiny petal like papery bracks.

with very small, bright green aromatic leaves, crowded along stems. New growth

Specimen
plant, screening, hedges and bog gardens. Can be pruned severely to promote
dense growth. Provides food for insect-eating birds and nectar for butterflies. Wurundjeri people used the wood for kangaroo spears, weapons, waddies, warras
warras and fighting boomerangs, Food: leaves can be used as tea.
Prefers open
position in moist well-drained soil; full sun. Accepts dry to poorly drained
soils; up to full shade. Very hardy and drought tolerant

Perennial
shrub or groundcover, with small silver-green, arrow-shaped leaves on slender,
weak-stems, trailing from central rootstock. Grows 60cm tall, 1 m
wide. Flowers are inconspicuous. Numerous small red or yellow berries, in small
clusters along stems from Nov - April.
Groundcover,
especially for western and northern aspects, under trees, rock gardens and
hanging baskets. Plant at 60cm intervals for full groundcover. Berries provide
food for birds. Food: Fruit is sweet and edible. Leaves are also edible, boil if
necessary to remove excess salt
Prefers warm,
open position in dry, well drained soil; full sun. Accepts wet winter soil;
semi-shade. Resents permanently poor drainage. Very hardy and drought tolerant.

everlasting, bushy daisy: multi-stemmed with shiny, bright leaves.

Large, golden
yellow, everlasting daisy flowers, 4 cm wide, with stiff shiny petals from Aug -

Rock gardens,
cut and dried flowers, ground cover, pots and under trees. Dies off in summer
after flowering and reshoots from base in autumn. Prune from and early stage to
promote flowering and dense growth.
Provides food
for butterflies and insect-eating birds.
